Well, my bud at PaineWebber has been telling me for months that their models were getting progressively bearish. Around December the models were saying investors should be 50% in cash. That number kept moving up, by early March they were indicating over 70% cash. Then the bottom fell out. I did not want to believe it but between the models, Barron's, Ken Fisher's prognostications and general queasiness about valuations I did take a healthy chunk of stock off the table but should have had a deeper strength of conviction about the likely direction of the market. It could be a long, slow recovery but I am trying to identify which stocks to start buying, perhaps starting next week. Let's hope the PocketPC rollout is significant...
