Ian, I suspect that You are right on the money about the consequences of a falling BTB.

When Dell reported a shortfall of earnings because of an inability to supply the market (rising BTB) the stock got trashed.(opportunity lost they called it)

But investors are obsessed with numbers. The first interpretation of any number is rarely correct. After all bigger is always better. (BG)

This is the essential problem with instant information. We just don't have the time to interpret it.

I stayed long all my positions and added a few option calls with the funds that I had available. (Sept, in the money calls).

Predictions for tomorrow all all over the board. What would the pundits say if the big sell off scheduled for tomorrow refused to show up?

I do recall that my portfolio has done the best when I retreated to my rustic cabin on Lake Superior for a month or so and left the television and computer in the sleep mode.
