Sam I agree with your points, especially the points made about the specialists and market makers. I sincerely wish that the Rico statutes could be applied here. IMHO this has been the equivalent of a mob hit on the American stock market. Nelson Bunker Hunt tried something similar with a far smaller market a few years back. There are other instances of such, especially in the Canadian markets.

What has made me particularly suspicious of this "market event" are the high premiums which significantly out of the money options have continued to hold.
