Short long bonds, eh? Not so sure I agree w/you there...not with tax checks about to hit the system in the next 5 business days, another rate hike coming, and the ANNUAL wealth-effect about to be transferred to Uncle Sammy...AGAIN<g> RE: bullion...Fidelity usta have a bullion fund that only bot American Eagles and I believe Canadian Maples...might check that out...its been about 15 years tho' since I knew that as a fact... And the ole CEF of Canada is nothing BUT a bullion fund...silver mostly...and I believe currently trading at a discount to NAV...which is probably a rarity. Then of course, you could do your OWN bullion IRA, provided you get a copy of the latest IRS bulletin on same...assuming you are living in the USA. All the best, but I'd CERTAINLY advise rethinking that Short the 30 yr idea...NOT COOL from my perspective.
