MarkZ and BP, thanks for your replies. I had suspected that online spread orders were processed manually (equivalent to sending an email to a live broker). ok, so strike one for speed, but it may beat having to call and give all the info to a live broker. not in speed, but in reduced 'hassle' factor. I'll try it out for awhile... I have many reasons for wanting to consolidate at Schwab and really only one reason not to (commissions) and that's not even a really good one. if anyone else has more stories, pls do tell ;-) tx
