Don't you get until 3:00PM to come up with the money? On the day they call or the next day? It all depends on which broker. I have not gotten one recently (thanks to AMD). My last one was by 2 PM EST and is the third day after the initial margin call. I had 2 calls then from 2 consecutive days. I sold enough to meet the first call. The next day, the Market stabilized and I do not have to do anything on the last one. Each broker is differ. BTW, Waterhouse just issued a new margin maintenance requirement on some stocks. JDSU is 50%, SCMR is 75%. I wonder if this is cause more sellings or the grandfather rule applies (existing shares do not apply to the new rule)?
