Thanks, mr.mark. I've started a folder to keep track of the sites and posts that might be of interest to me. I'll add your maintenance prep. post for my future installs.
Dr. Deming, a leading guru in the quality business, often said (I paraphrase here)that the penalty for being dumb is that you get beat up a lot. I feel I'm in that boat in that I don't know what I should know. Today, for example, in trying to learn more about my keyboard, I've come across the F11 key in help-keyboard. On my old (Win '95) computer, F11 does nothing, but here (Win '98SE) it toggles to eliminate all but one toolbar line, so I get almost a full screen of URL. Now that I find absolutely fabulous. Makes reading stuff way better and just what I was hoping for when I upgraded to a 19" monitor. Such a simple thing - toggle F11- and I wonder how much more great stuff is out there that would help me but I don't know where it is or more likely I'm too lazy to figure out what I need and to search for it or read about it. Or too unwilling to try it. The tweak programs or cache manager download, just mentioned, for example. I wouldn't know why I should have a cache manager - it fixes gliches I don't know I have or could have?? I got a new computer-- let it manage the cache! To me, because I don't know diddley, it's just one more thing to confuse me. Although...that post on pitstop looks like it might not be too complicated for me and maybe of some benefit. Have any of you guys, other than Doug C. #reply-13401060, tried it?
