BP, Gorilla gamers aren't ignoring history; we're learning from it. The GG does not imply that Gorillas can't be unseated. Understanding how they can die is just as essential to the strategy as learning how they are born. The authors don't advocate holding a primate forever, but rather,

"Hold gorilla stocks for the long term. Sell only on proven substitution threat."

Just as Superman was born on Krypton and could only be hurt by Kryptonite, we theorize that a Gorilla is conceived through a discontinuous innovation and can only be killed by a discontinuous innovation. The saving grace is that inertia and infrastructure replacement costs make this passage a lengthy one which gives GGers time aplenty to withdraw.

Some opine that optical networking is the substitution threat that will cause Cisco to morph into a lesser creature. Once that is proven, I'll retire my wavai's and move to greener pastures.

If you haven't read GG, PM me your address and I'll be pleased to send you a copy. That goes for you, too, Poet. Jill's already read it, so no freebie for her <gg>.
