Zeeve, >>fact that we are looking at running budget surpluses for a number of years.

This budget surplus is smoke and mirrors. Since when has your lender allowed you to not include all your obligations in the liabilities side of your net worth statement when you ask for a new loan. We have been adding to the debt of this country each and every day of the week for a long time.

>>Savings

Those 401ks are paper assets which are not exactly savings until you cash them out and turn them into hard currency. They are something called "hope". Don't kid you self, these 401k's could be worth a lot less in the future because they are overpriced or the flations (in or de) could take them out.

I hope that the currency that is being used to build out the internet is going to be useful to every one. My gut feeling on this one is that corporations will benefit from it, say 10 years from now more than you or I. Us cheapskate.com users are benefiting now, but that will be gone when these folks that are giving away products have to make a profit or just plain go bust. <ggg>

>> Economic dislocations

Time will tell.

Have a good week,

Joan
