ABC NEWS on TV just had an interview with Joseph Battipaglia of Gruntal & Co. and with Hugh Johnson of First Albany Group.

Battipaglia's take on the market is that Monday morning may see a down turn for an hour or so, go back up and close higher at the end of the day. We are in a sound economy and stock market.

Hugh Johnson sees a lingering in this low area for a week or so and that the market is doing okay. He feels that Greenspan may increase rates 1/4% rather than 1/2%. With high fuel prices now, 1/2 would be too much.

The overall message was of economic good health and no need to panic sell, hold for the long term.

(I paraphrased, going from memory).
