of course i still think of you, meph. you were (are) one of the truly civilized beings i ran into on these threads. i like good manners, though my occasional sarcasm might belie that, and civility is a fine trait. still have cinco. he is 5 now, so becoming a mature mule, but remains rather rambunctious. he has kicked me twice, and i have learned a deal about herd behavior. figured out he isn't mean, just vying for top spot, and i am, to him, another mule and available to be bullied - if i will put up with it. i don't. when we get to butt-dancing (you'd have to spend some time with mules to understand the ritual dancing that comes before the kicking), i lay into him with anything at hand, fence post, fist, tree branch, hose. what matters is that you get aggressive within about 3 seconds of his first move, or he doesn't know what you're about; if you are late then you are just viewed as mean, in his book, and not the alpha mule you always wanted to be. got to understand his time-frame. so, enough!!!
no didn't get into sun for earnings. i have gravitated toward a ta approach and it has served me very well in finding sell points in momo bios. it was the money that i took off the table trading at/near tops that saved my behind when it all started down. lost a quarter million in profits in 5 weeks, but still came out up nicely when i went cash a week ago. to go back to the ta thing; have followed gary smith, at tsc, and his trend-line analysis with great interest. when he said we were on the brink a week ago, in his analysis of the nasdaq comp, i sold everything. thank goodness. would have been way down for the year if not. just got into sun as it was one of the dozen or so co's that i found in research that had all the goodies: earnings with an actual p/e, dominant market position, good track record, etc. am looking for a 300 - 500 pt drop in the am and will be looking at more sun, some axp, pfe, msft. my price targets for these are around 10% below our fri close. don't know if i can hit them. intend to put another 20% in and then sit tight on 40% cash. what's with your trading quota? never heard you mention that before.
still go the hundred miles to town now and then - las cruces has its own home depot now - whoooopeeee! wife has me going on an inside passage cruise in mid-may. not really me, but it pleases her very, very much. will wave to you when we fly over seattle - as i recall that's where you are. so, are you not on the coffee circuit any longer? i never got back in after the smashed teacups incident - think that's how you referred to it. glad this is such a broad-based thread. no one will shoot me for a post like this. best to you, and will keep in touch. don |
