For those of you that missed the Newsweek article about MSFT: newsweek.com So MSFT is working on the Next Generation Windows Services.....which of course will be interwoven with the internet like their browser is to Win 98. I can't think of a better marriage than of subscription type software or internet ASP and broadband. My download and update of Win NT SP5 over my cable connection, written to a CD, was the most painless software update I've ever had in my life. We can assume NGWS like their previous products will be BIG and bloated. How do we make a jump to them doing an interface with ATHM that is going to be fast and robust? Why would they want to do it with ATHM/T? Because the big threat is AOL? Why wouldn't they want to do it with ATHM? Because they'll get ATHM anyway and they want to control e-commerce revs? AOL made more money in e-commerce than AMZN in March. Why would ATHM trust MSFT when some of their old partners are lined up in court to cash in on that anti-trust ruling? A lot of companies that went to bed with MSFT in the past wound up getting screwed and didn't get kissed. Could it be that that the devil in Redmond looks better than the devil in Dull-ass, especially now in their weakened state? Just about everyone else in the world had ganged up to get them. Maybe we need to have a little of the logic that the little guy that goes to jail has.....that you only need one friend and it better be the biggest, meanest, badest guy there.
