Funny, I was just talking [out loud], about that very issue.

I don't think the link that you posted would necessarily address the 'wireless', 'satellite', laser, or other sophisticated and still rather 'obscure', brand new technologies...

Besides, if you don't know exactly what to look for, or cannot do a comprehensive investigation, any result of a "check" using a "free internet security application" would yield a 'false negative', thus creating a "False Sense of Security"...

I do wish that I knew Everything that there is to Know about 'the latest, coolest', technological advances. As a very 'lay' person, I would rather wait for an 'expert' analysis before drawing any conclusions about HOW this works.

Furthermore, after all the discussion that's transpired here, it would be quite possible and even probable, that anything that was being used to 'eavesdrop' could have been 'removed' or otherwise 'altered'.

I have a [cable]tv set a few feet away from this pc.
They share a common AC current...when 'plugged in'.
Without pretending to understand exactly how it works, I suspect that perhaps the new 'palm' or 'wireless' technology affords anyone interested in doing so, the opportunity to 'electronically eavesdrop' on targeted locations...

Much like the old 'cordless' phones, there is a range within which these 'palm devices' are effective...We all have had the experience of picking up other folks voices during our 'cordless' phone conversations, as we move through space and the invisible world of Wavelengths.

The electrical wiring of a home is/can become an effective antenna...I hope to learn specifically how this works in the near future, and I think all consumers should be aware of the new 'interconnectivity' technology that will /is being built into home appliances, electronic equipment and even toasterovens!

Its in the CHIPS!

Hopefully, you know more about this than I, and can "shed some Light" on the subject of 'Home Networks", 'Interconnectivity', 'wireless hand-held devices' and "Privacy".

EDIT: This is bigger than Norton utilities type security measures...MUCH Bigger, imo.
