Re: "I have a technical question: is there any way to sell a "covered" put? (other than having the cash to buy the shares sitting in an account) In other words, is there any difference between selling a put and being short puts? Is there an investment configuration that results in a "covered put" in the sense that one can sell a "covered call?"

I believe sell puts against a short position in the equity is considered a "covered put".
