To all: It is human nature when the chips are down to become even more pessemistic. I guess its some kind of internal defense mechanism to prepare for the worst. I think if one is a long term investor, one needs to look at the Economy, for the overall picture, and the company internal fundamentals for the detailed picture. From where I sit, the overall economy still appears wonderful, the need for storage is strong and growing, EMC is the premier company in this field. Only negative one can possibly raise is the PE ratio is high. So, under the worst of scenarios, seems to me we may sit at some level for a year or two until the company profits grow into the required PE ratio. If anyone here has held this stock for 3 years or so I believe that under the worst scenario described above their return is still pretty darn good. Since the market generally over reacts in either direction, anyone new to this stock may wish to consider awaiting the end of this carnage and buying in deeper then in 3 years they too will be sitting pretty.
