Pierre, it really is amazing that in all the years leading up to Globalstar service, it didn't occur to the service providers that they needed to arrange roaming.
The Globalstar advertising was that this was a global phone. It is not.
It is pathetically restricted. Before you go anywhere, you have to check to see whether you can use it. Incredibly, you cannot take your GlobalstarUSA phone and use it in Australia or Britain [which used to be Great Britain and we can see why it's not great anymore].
Vodafone is a pommy company with a big operation in Australia and New Zealand. But you can't use your Globalstar phone there, perhaps even in terrestrial mode, according to the list...<Globalstar USA customers already have in- and outbound roaming capabilities throughout North America, covering all of Canada, the continental United States and Mexico. Countries and regions included in the expanded roaming service include: Southern Brazil: Districto Federal, Minais Gerais, Rio De Janerio Rio Grande De Sul, Santa Catarina, Sao Paulo Europe: Albania, Austria, Bosnia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Liechtenstein, Macedonia, Romania, San Marino, Slovakia, Slovenia, Switzerland and the Vatican City >
It's not surprising they got the share price down to the 7s today!! My $15 does NOT look a supersonic bargain right now. It will soon, but this grindingly slow rollout is weird. Even before launching the satellites, they should have had roaming agreements figured out. Maybe the software was a problem...
