Gary you have my full sympathy. Only my most recent buys are down below what I paid for them. As a portfolio I am still up over 200%. Long term investing is much less a gamble than jumping in and out. On the other hand, I don't work anymore so can not add to my IRA holdings. I am so fully invested that I have to sell good stocks to buy better ones. Wish I had some money at 5 or 6 percent in CD or bank holdings to through at the market ... to me it is buy time.
