cdma2000 will work as well as W-CDMA on top of the GSM backbone, core, bottom layers or whatever they are called.

I know Ericsson and Qualcomm have worked together to harmonize ANSI-41 and GSM (or should I say UMTS?) but I'm pretty sure they haven't made that kind of progress. I was under the impression that the primary point of the exercise was to allow CDMA2000 to survive in a world dominated by W-CDMA/UMTS.
