Be happy that you didn't upgrade an NT to Win2K - I did that and had to reinstall everything... At least a Linux installation can be fixed.

If you want Linux userfriendlyness, buy a Compaq Neoserver and use your browser to configure it. It's $1499 with unlimited client licenses...

Red Hat Linux is not easy unless you want to dive deep into an OS. I haven't figured out what their business model is, but it surely doesn't seem convincing. Often when I need some support on Linux stuff I end up at SuSE. They haven't made an IPO yet, but I think they will get a bigger market share than Red Hat Linux in Europe within a couple of years. A recent survey showed 75% market share in Germany.
