Herc and All,

LA's former governor on trial on 34 counts of illegal activities.....MANY stemming from the early Gaming Industry of Louisiana:

<<<A three-year surveillance by FBI wiretaps and hidden cameras has disclosed a bizarre and complex pattern of influence-peddling and payoffs in the state's burgeoning gambling industry, a pattern fueled by curiously migrating sacks of $100 bills up to $400,000 in one case.....>>>

The State Government's budget/programs have become dependent on gaming revs:

<<<...But with dry land reserves depleted and oil companies increasingly focusing their exploration efforts off-shore, the Pelican State, like Edwin Edwards, is facing the confrontation with reality foreshadowed by the oil bust of the late 1980s. Oil and gas once paid for the party. Now it makes up a bare 9 percent of the state's $6 billion general fund and is shrinking steadily as a revenue source.

To take its place, the state has turned to gambling now a $500 million to $600 million share of the state's revenue.....>>>

IMO, INTERNET Gaming would ELIMINATE corruption. and certainly ADD to all of the State's dwindling revenues.
