Gee, have you ever wondered why Janet Reno's wizards have allowed Exxon and Mobil and Amoco, BP and now Arco to merge? How about allowing Ford and GM to gobble up all those smaller auto makers? Do they really believe that lack of competition is good for prices and consumers?

Rather than "trust-busters", the Reno legacy appears to be trust building. Their actions have and will hurt the consumer. By contrast, Microsoft has been a boon to consumers (I do not own MSFT). I argued long ago on the Cisco thread that Microsoft was a monopoly but had not behaved illegally. I still hold that view and think Microsoft will win on appeal where they will have no problem overturning Jackson's conclusions.

What I find so curious is why the media ignores the Clinton-Reno policy of allowing trust building in oil and autos while targeting Microsoft.
