Dear JDN: I personally do not think it is belittling DELL to say it is just a "box maker." The problem is that the market has changed and DELL was not fast enough to see the change coming. Had they been, they would have put a lot more money into research.

I am pretty sure I read it on the CPQ thread (and not here in some article), but DELL allocates approximately $100 million to research as against CPQ's $400 million.
