Re: TLAB-->AFCI connection

"The analyst also pointed out the potential for increased sales for 2000. According to the analyst, AFC receives between 10 and 15 percent on each $1 of CableSpan sales by Tellabs. Tellabs recently announced that CableSpan sales will grow from $100 million in 1999 to more than $300 million in 2000. That could triple AFC's sales to Tellabs for the year to an estimated $30 to $45 million."

Thread- I knew that TLAB depended upon AFCI as a vendor for Cablespan, but didn't realize it was this dependent. Now this is quite interesting because of what is going on with TLAB's Cablespan rollouts. FWIW, TLAB is VERY excited about it.

"The other point of interest to Last Mile investors, is the strength of Cablespan. For those that don't know, it's Tellabs HFC product line that is cable telephony(circuit-swtiched variety) capable. TLAB boosted projections of doubling Cablespan revenues in 2000, to TRIPLING sales."

And FWIW, here's a European connection that AFCI may partake in if TLAB gets some big contracts.

"I believe it's either a ADCT Homeworx platform or a TLAB Cablespan platform. My guess is Cablespan because they seem pretty excited about rollouts but haven't named their customer. I need to look into it further to be sure."

"While reviewing my TLAB notes, I did come across a more solid connection between TLAB and UPC. Apparently in the 99Q3 CC, it was specifically mentioned--Cablespan has five large customers. UPC/Europe and MediaOne are two largest. Plus RCN."

...As Cablespan goes, so apparently goes AFCI. -MikeM(From Florida)
