Global TeleMedia Announces Execution of Cable & Wireless Optus and BentleyTel Contract

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 18, 2000--

Australian Northern Territory Government to Change Internet Access from Australia's Largest Telecom ISP Telstra to BentleyTel.com Network on June 1, 2000

Global TeleMedia International, Inc. (OTC: BB: GTMI) President, Jonathon Bentley-Stevens, announced today that BentleyTel Australia has signed a contract with Cable & Wireless Optus under which BentleyTel will provide the entire Northern Territory Government with Internet Access over the next five years.

Under the terms of the agreement, Optus will provide ATM access to BentleyTel's Darwin POP. This will upgrade the bandwidth of the BentleyTel service and dramatically increase network performance. In addition, this agreement will give BentleyTel Australia fast and easy upgrade ability for future projects and growth.

The contract was executed by BentleyTel Australia President, Felino Molina, and Laurie Tippins, Optus Senior Contracts Manager, and witnessed by Hon. Peter Adamson, Minister for Communications, Science and Advanced Technology. The contract is expected to generate $100,000 per month initially and multiply with the acceleration of the project. As part of the Cable & Wireless Optus Consortium, BentleyTel will provide the Government with Internet access including 1,000+ dial up, 250 Virtual Private Networks (VPN's) and over 3,000 LAN / WAN users.

By installing a separate network that includes a "firewall solution" user tracking and accounting, URL based reporting and RADIUS authentication, Government users will only require one username and password for internet access, whether or not they are on their own LAN or dialing in from a remote location around Australia.

BentleyTel.com Australia will take over ownership and management of the Northern Territory Government SRA ACE server. This gives BentleyTel.com the ability to provide NT Government remote users access to their LAN using its Virtual Private Network via secure token-based authentication.

BentleyTel Australia President, Felino Molina, said, "It is a significant achievement for BentleyTel.com to be recognized in this manner by a truly global telecommunications carrier. This contract is a powerful recognition of the quality of BentleyTel's staff, resources and infrastructure. It is an important step to have ownership and management of the Secure Government VPN and LAN/WAN systems."

He continued, "One of the problems was how to allow NT Government employees flexibility of access from inside the firewall of the Governments LAN/WAN to the Internet and be able to account for individual users, as well as the logs of sites the users had visited. Further, a secure dial-up access had to be provided to some of the authorized employees who need access to files inside the Government's firewall. This access had to be available across Australia. Billing information on user and departmental basis had to be provided monthly, as well as a third party help desk user account management system. This turned out to be a complex problem as most firewalls only allow filtering policies based on IP addresses and not on user basis. With BentleyTel's national core network, VPN capability and our own developed management software, a solution was created to enable user based authentication, billing, tracking from users inside the LAN and/or dial-up servers as well as provide third party help desk account management."

GTMI President, Jonathon Bentley-Stevens, said, "When we acquired Octa4 last year we recognized we were getting a unique blend of software engineering genius and real future thinking. We have been utilizing real-time financial e-commerce solutions in the marketplace for over six months and these products are still being developed in the USA. Almost every week we are approached by much larger corporations wanting a solution or strategic alliance to enhance or develop their products. These secure Internet platforms developed for the Government are available to ISP's here in the USA through Global TeleMedia International (Ph. No. (949) 253-9588 or GTMIMAIL@CS.COM)."
