RE:"Mr. MacMannis, I am not smart to undrestand stock analysis, I leave that ot you, Tony and Indian Gurus on the Street, but I believe AMD is still far away from serious company, comparng with INTC."
Mr Yaacov,
Do not kid yourself. If you invest in stocks, you are a stock Analyst. OTOH, I cannot dissagree with you at this point although I don't know about you use of the word, serious. AMD has had a couple good quarters. They have some good products in the pipeline. They have a decent roadmap. They are serious...
By no means however are they in the same league as Intel looking at past history. Intel, probably the most profitable company in history. Split after split. Lowest cost chip producer. Copy exactly. Well aware that MHz sells. Used to leading the convention as far as technology is concerned. OTOH... Recently stubbed their toe. Yield problems Losing the Mhz lead. Promoting questionable RAMBUS technology. But, they are big enough to recover...
AMD...executing very nicely due to a very yieldable high MHz core that uses cheap RAM.
In the last analysis. It's where you are coming from. Intel has to keep up the great image they have earned. AMD has to change is "always the bridesmaid" image.
AMD has done well changing that. Main concern is if Athlon will be able to keep up with Willamette. Even then, not worried about that for another 2 quarters and those should be great for AMD. That will be 4 good quarters in a row.
Intel got a wake up call and is responding. My main concern is that Willy is tied to expensive RAMBUS. Also worried about ASPs as Coppermine moves to the mid range. This however may be countered by Intels low manufacturing costs. Coppermine die are cheap.
I own both companies...I plan on keeping them for a while. When you think to compare Intel to other tech companies, even with Intels latest problems, most all others don't stack up against Intel very well.
