I think you are right. They might be contractually obligated to launch something by some dates and so might just be launching lemons up there with not much real capabilities.

Also, I heard somewhere that they have scrapped the idea of routing the calls from satallite to satallite....if this is true, then how exactly would their system work ??

P.S: Have been hearing rumours regrading there being a new project at MOT called Iridium 2... Any ideas what this is all about...
