John,

They did not say it took them four quarters to realize that the internet would stimulate growth. What they said was one of the reasons they hadn't increased their capacity was that the internet grew even faster than they thought it would and it continues to surpass their expectations for it's growth. Some other reasons were that demand in Japan grew faster than they expected and same was true in the rest of the Asian market too.

So tell me John, how fast do you think it is going to keep growing and then tell me how anyone would know the unknowable?

I recall also that they said they didn't lose any market share this quarter and that was after gaining market share last quarter.

When asked to comment on AMD's sucess, they called the increase in demand a tide lifting all boats.

Re hostility: I noticed it when Drew Peck asked a question about investment income porion of their earnings. I don't recall any other examples of the hostility you refer to. Can you point to a few more instances?

Barry
