MDR, Deepwater, & Subsea

John:

My best understanding of JRM is that their specialties are platforms, pipelines and subsea. Isn't that where the deepwater money has to go?

Most platforms (except Bullwinkle class) aren't very suitable for deepwater, but MDR has a number of technologies that are ideally suited for this segment: e.g., SPAR, Tension Leg Platform (TLP), subsea, dynamically-positioned pipelay, etc.

The following excerpt was taken from the Company's Report for the Nine Months Ending December 31, 1999:

Deepwater and subsea projects mark the future of offshore construction. J. Ray McDermott has led advances throughout the history of offshore construction and today leads the way into deepwater and subsea with innovative designs such as the spar facility pictured here.
