SMARTSALES ANNOUNCES KEY STAFF APPOINTMENTS

Toronto, April 17, 2000 ð SmartSales Inc. (CDNX:SA) announced today that it had made appointments to fill two key staff positions. Natalie Gauthier has been appointed as Marketing Manager for OutSmart, North America and Catherine Hortsing has been appointed as Senior Account Executive for OutSmart for Workgroups, in North America.
Don Parker, President and CEO of SmartSales said "These appointments represent the Companyûs continuing progress in expediting our market development activities for OutSmart in North America. Ms. Gauthierûs prime responsibilities are to position and develop the OutSmart brand, and ensure that every one of the estimated 60 million users of Microsoftûs Outlook, know and understand, the value added by the OutSmart extension. Ms. Gauthierûs credentials include product management experience for one of the leading North American consumer communications companies, where Ms. Gauthier was responsible for product strategy including brand management as well as sales and distribution strategies for the companyûs Canadian brands. In addition, Ms. Gauthier has marketing management experience acquired at Bell Emergis, where she was responsible for managing the product direction for the Bell eCommerce Systems."
"Catherine Hortsing will be one of the three executives responsible for the sales of OutSmart for Workgroups to the SME marketplace in North America," Mr. Parker also said.
