Hi Frank,

Just wondering if you might be able to dig up anything at NANOG or elsewhere regarding a fiber cut(?) in a link between Central Oregon and Portland the afternoon of the 17th, between 1:30 and ~6:00PM PDT.

What is of interest to me is that is was IDed out here as a USWest cut, but no one knows much beyond that. Not only was Internet connectivity down, so was LD phones, my bank couldn't provide me with my account information and at the local supermarket some, but not all checkout devices were off line. Most peculiar, that last one.

The general reason I'm curious is that I would have thought that this link would have had a redundant backup to cover. We had none, AFAIK.

Comments welcomed.

Ray
