yaacov,

Jim what is Willamette

Willamette is the new core for Intel's 32 bit chips. It has been under development for some time. Originally it was planned to be released in 2H 1998 along with the Merced processor. Willamette will finally be released in 2H 2000. It will replace the last generation core - P6 - that has been with us since Pentium Pro, through PII, PIII, Xeon, Celeron, Timna and the latest Coppermine variety of all these chips.

and how will it impact the earning this year?

Intel predicted that this chip will be released in limited quantities this year, 100s of thousands of units, so it probably will not have a significant impact on earnings this year. If will probably become significant in Q1 2001.
