Hello Slider!

I just finished listening to the ESV conference call, (about an hour in length), and I thought I'd pass along some interesting tidbits.

CEO, Carl Thorne was asked if he anticipated a "new build" program like the one we just had in 97. Carl said, "I hope not." He went on to clarify his comment by saying he can't foresee a new build program until we have "equilibrium" in the world markets. By equilibrium he inferred that every market in the world would have to be operating at peak levels, so that you could not move a rig from one region to another, and the equilibrium in the world markets would have to remain in place for a long time before he could envision a "new build" program like the one he had in the last boom cycle.

Another interesting comment referred to the "boat market" in the GOM. It was stated that the boat market is depressed and will remain "sloppy" for the next couple of quarters. It was stated that there is an over-supply of boats and marketing them for higher day-rates isn't possible at this time.

It was mentioned that the Pacific Rim region, (which includes the Middle East), is picking up nicely and is expected to peak by the end of the year.

No "new build" program doesn't bode well for that company in Mississippi that I can't seem to recall it's name. (g) I wonder about TDW's new boats too. Have they contracted any of the building yet?
