Insider Selling Theory

Complete theory on my part, but if I had a large stake in a company (IMP), and I knew that:

- Earnings were going to be good for the next quarter, and
- I could lower the stock price by selling my shares

Why wouldn't I sell near the high (~$20), wait for the price to go down on fears of insider selling (Carrington) then buy back around $10 before the earnings are announced?

Although it doesn't seem very ethical, it is a quick way for these executives to double their money. They know that the stock will bounce back when the earnings are announced so there is little risk for them.

Just my theory.
