John,

I also like looking at the 25sma, 40 sma and MACD on the monthly and weekly charts, to determine bearish/bullish market flows. There are other factors like the "M"-"W" patterns, but these are pretty strong if pedestrian.

What they show is a market in transition with a tendency towards a bearish stand....Not completed, but this last week was getting loser.

Monthly:
All markets are significantly higher then respective 25/40sma.

Weekly 25sma:
DOW - 10877. - on open of 10748
NAS - 4066.. + on open of 3832
RUT - 510... + on open of 485
SPX - 1424.. + on open of 1441
OEX - 768... + on open of 785
UTL - 299... + on open of 304
TYX - 61.95. - on open of 58.59

Weekly 40sma:
DOW - 10817. - on open of 10748
NAS - 3575.. + on open of 3832
RUT - 480... + on open of 485
SPX - 1386.. + on open of 1441
OEX - 739... + on open of 785
UTL - 299... + on open of 304
TYX - 61.58. - on open of 58.59

The MACD (12/26/9) to determine bearish/bullish Indexes.

Month:
DOW - cros'd dw - flat
NAS - cros'd up - peaked and falling
RUT - cros'd up - peaked and falling
SPX - cros'd dw - flat
OEX - cros'd up - flat
UTL - cros'd dw - falling
TYX - cros'd up - falling

Weekly:
DOW - cros'd up - flat
NAS - cros'd dw - falling
RUT - cros'd dw - falling
SPX - cros'd dw - flat
OEX - cros'd dw - falling
TYX - cros'd dw - falling
