You don't need to tap into some ethereal well of morality to recognize "badness" in novel situations- as humans we are capable of analogizing. We can see a new situation and compare it with all the other situations we have ever seen. We can then make a judgment on the situation without resorting to some connection to a "common source of morality that is a given." I certainly wouldn't agree that there is a "common source of morality that is a given" and I am fairly sure Steve wouldn't either. In fact that common source thing is the whole crux of our argument. You just threw it in as if it was a small modification- it is, in fact, the whole source of our disagreement- namely whether it is common, and from whence it(morality) comes.
