Children are very great little hypocrites. They are more than willing to preach one set of rules for everyone else, and quite another for themselves. They are born with their sense of looking at the world egotistically- and isn't hypocrisy related to egotism? The roots of the word are theatrical in nature. Children have to be taught that standards apply to all. It doesn't take them long to pick up the concept, but it can take forever for them to learn to act on it.
