NEW YORK -(Dow Jones)- Smith Barney lowered its rating on Ultratech
Stepper Inc. (UTEK) to "neutral" from "outperform," an analyst said.
Commenting on the change, analyst Min Pang said spending in the
semiconductor manufacturing sector has shifted away from "low
cost-of-ownership systems" like those produced by Ultratech.
"Although Ultratech's business has shifted from semiconductor-driven
to thin-film tape driven, we're not too sure if this is a true earnings
driver," Pang said.
