Alamosa PCS, a Sprint PCS Network Partner, Launches Two New Texas Markets
LUBBOCK, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 19, 2000--Alamosa PCS Holdings Inc. (Nasdaq:APCS), The 1999 Sprint PCS Affiliate of the Year, today announced the launch of advanced Sprint PCS (NYSE:PCS), or Personal Communications Services, in additional markets located in Eagle Pass and Del Rio, Texas. As a Sprint PCS Network Partner, Alamosa offers Sprint PCS all-digital, all-PCS nationwide wireless service and products to this area for the first time. No other carrier in the area offers digital technology on a nationwide network.
"We are excited to announce that Alamosa is now offering Sprint PCS Service in the Eagle Pass and Del Rio regions of Texas, part of our Border Region between Texas and Mexico that currently includes Laredo and El Paso," commented David E. Sharbutt, chairman and chief executive officer of Alamosa PCS. "Because the tourist traffic generated from neighboring Mexico in Eagle Pass and Del Rio is quite extensive, we believe network usage along the border should greatly exceed our initial expectations. Additionally, we will also receive additional revenue from Sprint PCS and from other wireless carriers with whom Sprint PCS has roaming agreements.
"As we continue to enter new markets, we immediately benefit from the brand identity, exceptional clarity and superior customer service that are synonymous with Sprint PCS, the nation's fastest growing wireless provider. With this competitive advantage and our proven ability to execute, we believe that Alamosa is well positioned to earn a significant share of the rapidly growing market for wireless communications service in our licensed territories," concluded Mr. Sharbutt.
