Didn't I just read here that the next generation of RDRAM is going to double the pin count?

I don't think anyone claimed that Intel is moving to the next version of RDRAM anytime soon. I'm sure Intel would rather get production levels of the current form up so that the come prices down. The point about quadrupling the performance of RDRAM is to demonstrate the headroom that RDRAM has. They can improve the speed and they can make the datapath wider. How soon do you think we'll see DDR-800? (which will have to focus solely on speed improvements since they can't make the buss any wider).
