Re: DSL Rollouts via Paradyne(sym:PDYN)

"There were about 589,000 DSL lines installed as of the end of 1999."

Ray and Thread- Just listened in to Q1 2000 results out of Paradyne(sym:PDYN). Pretty incredible results were announced. For those that don't know, PDYN is a DSL specialist. But have a foot in legacy T1, Frame Relay products. IMO, their Frame business is a great way to continue moderate growth while DSL services rollout. T1 is dying for them as expected. But the nice thing is DSL is ramping up much faster than expected.

-PDYN has installed 7,000 DSLAMs to date
-Have 1.8 million installed DSL lines to date
-Shipped GranDSLAM to 25 customers in Q1
-Korean service provider just ordered 2,600 GranDSLAMs
-Shipping 2,000 GranDSLAMs to Rythms by Q3
-Broadband access will grow 57% in 2000
-Broadband access will grow 40% next two years.
-Lucent was 25% of revenues in Q1

There is a long time relationships between Lucent, Paradyne, and even GlobeSpan. But probably not worth going into unless one considers PDYN as an investment idea.

I'm guessing if all the other DSL players start announcing results such as PDYN just did, then market forecast for DSL lines installed in 2000 will have to be raised. -MikeM(From Florida)
