No Gold in Busang Project

All daily newspaper newspapers: KOMPAS, REPUBLIKA,
The Jakarta Post, The Indonesian Observer, Media
Indonesia, the Indonesia Times, Bisnis Indonesia, and
Harian Ekonomi Neraca, today write about the Busang saga
reports that a core sample find an economic gold deposit and
undeserved to explore. KOMPASreported, the Busang gold
discovery in East Kalimantan, Indonesia, touted by Bre-X
Minerals Ltd. as the richest find of the century, was a hoax. The
Busang gold deposit in the Southeast zone of the Busang
property, claimed by Bre-X to contain 71 million ounces of gold
was undeserved to develop, read a stunning report of
Strathcona Mineral Services Ltd. to Bre-X's chairman, David
G. Walsh on Sunday (5/4) in Toronto. While Harian
Ekonomi Neraca writed Nusamba would quit from Busang II
and III gold find.

Media Indonesia excerpted, "We very much regret the test

there. I'm sure the government and Freeport will quit from
Busang project," said President of Nusamba Mohammad 'Bob'
Hasan in Jakarta last night. Further, Neraca wrote, the height of
Busang gold content as reported by Bre-X Minerals Ltd. was
an engineering. The Canadian company, which owned 45%
stake in Busang project, suspected to falsify assay values at
Busang, by salting the core sample.

The Indonesian Observer and The Indonesia Times
reported, the government is contemplating on taking action
against Canadian mining company Bre-X Minerals if the Busang
find turned out to be a hoax. Mines and Energy Minister Ida
Bagus Sudjana said if Bre-X statements that the find was a hoax
were true, "the government will immediately take actions,
whether it be sanctions or other actions." REPUBLIKA
quoted observers and the House members, saying "the
government must immediately can Bre-X's work of contract," a
mining observer, Rachman Wiryosudarmo told REPUBLIKA
last night in Jakarta. While Tadjuddin Noer Said, the House
member of State Budget Commission said Busang case
damaged government credibility in the world eyes of mining.
