There isnt one large Enterprise who run's one of anything.. Charles Schwab has a very impressive Datacenter with IBM Mainframes, Hitachi Mainframes and Sun Servers. I havent seen a single bank which has an S/390 without an UE10000 in the bay area at least. Its relatively easy to port applications from one Unix to another - and if a company wants their Hardware sales rep to work for their business rather than calling them up with a complaint in hawaii, im sure they would introduce competitors into their datacenter, BTW - Amazon didnt switch from Sun to HP - they announced plans to move from Digital Alpha to HP for their transaction engines. Amazon uses UE10000's for their Data Warehouse and Sun in other parts of their infrastructure. As for - Ebay, they have more than 6 UE10000's and more Sun machines than beanie babies - if there using some HP - who knows..I would hardly call that "lost".

Nevertheless..for these marquee names, i think HP and IBM will do anything to win there business - but it doesnt seem to have traction for the broader market.
