Hi Gus,, -- I'm drinkin again , but I wanna print something that I read today----
It's in Harper's---- This guy is hanging around with the protestors from Seattle----- One protestor has told him a defining moment in his life-- It was his first trip to his Sociology class at Long Beach Cal State--- The Proffesor walked into the room and said --- " The reason you are here today, is because we live in a society that can't find meaningful, constuctive, engaging work for enough of it's members. So we made up this thing called college to delay your entry into society for four or five years while training your minds to accept a system of discipline and control that benefits a very small percentage of the population. When you graduate, most of you will wind up working as waiters or dishwashers, or in other mindless dead end jobs. You will come home at night, get drunk, and watch television. Welcome to Sociology."
Personally , I always thought the defining moment was when they taught us to line up in single file. I think that was around grade one... Fire drills were another, defining moment---- What do You think?
