Re: Announcement speculation

There's little need to speculate since we'll know next Monday. However it stands to reason that it will be more than the usual "Version N+1" rollout. It will be interesting to see if EMC is ready to declare the dawn of the post-server era just yet but there is no doubt in my mind that they fully intend to marginalize the processor and end its decades-long tenure at the center of the IT universe. The future is enterprise storage networks, distributed network caches, and the net. Future generations will find "central processors" as antique as we do 19th-century factories with their central steam engines and elaborate systems of overhead belts and pulleys to distribute its power.
