Whoa, I just noticed that analysts are expecting AMD to make $5.07 per share this year. Assuming 175M shares, (which will actually increase as the year progresses like always) that is a profit of almost $900M for the year!

Here are current estimates -

Q2 '00 Q3 '00 Q4 '00 FY 2000
Current average
(as of 4/14) $1.11 $1.24 $1.57 $5.07
Range $0.82/1.29 $0.82/1.57 ??? $4.17/6.03

That means AMD is trading at a PE of 15 based on 2000 estimates. (Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm acting like this is a big discovery when some of y'all have already posted this.) Heck, Apple, who also recovered from years of losses, is trading at a PE of 35 based on 2000 estimates. I agree with Niceguy's LONG term prediction that AMD is a good buy at double its current value. We're practically at an all time high while the market let out a pffffft! last week. I think the stock is in a good position to go up the rest of the year.

What really surprises me is that even the lowest estimate for the year is $4.17, but four analysts still have a hold on the stock. I guess their recommendations aren't based on valuation.
