Hey, thanks for your wonderful response!

Re. the store concept. About 5 years ago I bought a laptop from Gateway---with software done to specs via mail order.

Liking it and particularly the quiet of the laptop---I decided to upgrade the 1994 desk computer(not the laptop). This 1994 system was a custom job via a local shop also done to specs.

So, I decided to not go the local custom route and check out Gateway. I spent about two hours at the store browsing and trying computers---including taking a try at the "ergonomically" correct keyboard---and asking all the questions I had written down and ordered a system with everything I need within two hours. I received it about two weeks later and two weeks earlier than promised.

The ergonomically correct keyboard I forwent because I did not like the curved keyboard position and don't have carpal tunnel even after years of piano playing and typing etc.

Recently, received a courtesy call informing me that they will send a rep to my home for 3 years for service at no charge. Amazing! This is the kind of service a business gets.

In the process of upgrading I have added a color printer, a scanner, and audio capability---three additional pieces which I did not have before. This of course translates to $ for Gateway.

I also have the option of going in for tutorial on the use of the system. Since I am a self-learner, I don't need a lot of assistance---however, know that a lot of people would appreciate this.

I presume that Dell etc. have the same technology. As I was so pleased with the original laptop I didn't even bother to shop for another brand. (I followed the "repeat business" because of a good previous experience.)

I've noticed that Gateway is now advertising locally on TV. When I bought the laptop they were unheard of---took a little research to learn to whom to go for the laptop.

I tend to view stocks technically; however, when I see a product that I use and like I will check into the stock---and if the technical looks good I combine my intuition with the technical and buy. This is why I am looking at Gateway now.
