Out of curiosity, would you buy stock in a company like ICC Industries today? '94-'95 were literally the dark ages; and I don't use a word like 'literally' lightly, either. I was all alone then with only with S&P tear sheets (some 9 months old) from my discount broker (as full service brokers lost me even more money) and Barrons (!) to help me figure out companies, their markets, competitors and finances. 10Qs, 10ks and calling up the CFO or IR person for the requisite snow job was about as far as I could go... and no help on reading them either. I'm amazed I had any money left. I had no core holdings because anything could blow up in my face as I had no faith whatsoever in my information, and with very good reason. Add the internet; Yahoo!, SI, G&K... it's a day & night difference. Would I buy it today? Maybe a small starter position... but I doubt it.
