Thanks, Preston, Joe, and Mandragoran for your respective replies on stocks/tax software. I will look into each one.
I don't want to suffer through one more tax season figuring and doing 200 plus entries into MacIntax Schedule D. It took something like 20 man-hours of agonizing work.

Am hoping to find SW program that allows me to simply list when and what I buy and sell contemporaneously as I execute the transactions, and the software figures out the rest, viz., LIFO or FILO as appropriate; does partitioning of shares when multiple buys and sells are for different number shares of same stock over spans of several years; handles short sales as well as longs; accounts for stock splits (assuming I input split ratios and dates); provides running tally of ST and LT gains (losses) for the current tax year so I can better figure quarterly ES payments due, and with which to better decide which stocks to hold a little longer because of capital gain treatment; data exportable to MacIntax (Mac version of Turbotax) Schedule D. Am willing to pay $$ for the right program.
