When has EXLN said they were abandoning ObjectStore??

Never. It is just my interpretation of things. It certainly appeared at the very bottom of the "products" web page when I looked.

Also, the company used to project enormous growth for ObjectStore, and now they don't seem to hold any hope of that. Instead of saying "Maybe we should try marketing it a different way", the company just seems to have stopped trying at all when it comes to ObjectStore.

Its not beyond the realm of possibility the people will start realizing its potential. Right???

Anything is possible. However, I think one has to consider the possibility that the product marketing (in the widest possible sense, including pricing, aspects of product design, and aspects of business strategy such as dealing with solution developers) has been the Achilles heel that held back what is fundamentally a wonderful product.

One of my crazier ideas (ahhaha does not have a monopoly on them) is that the company could think about licensing its patented Virtual Memory Mapping Architecture (VMMA) to other companies. My feeling is that part of the reason why ODBMS has failed as a category is that ObjectStore's VMMA is by far the best architecture. Perhaps it would help to grow the category if EXLN allowed competitors to use their patented architecture for a fee.
