I think many of us on this thread are quibbling about the tactics while underestimating the strategy.

If one were to make a sales call on a major corporation and the VP or CIO asked you why you were there and you said you wanted to discuss the benefits of replacing their relational database with an object one (OBJECTSTORE), how long do you think that conversation would last? Maybe 10 seconds?

If on another sales call one were to say, "Excelon creates software for businesses to enable them to transform their corporate structure from older static interaction technologies to the newer Business to Business, BtoB, dynamic technologies so that they may conduct business over the Net. This requires an efficient storage engine, server software which manages many diverse software environments, rapid development software architecture which is backwardly compatible to older systems, and talks in a simple universal language. Excelon's Javelin server software does this and the Excelon development environment enables a corporation to realize this comprehensive and complete system easily and rapidly."

The conversation would last longer than 10 seconds and after sharing a few testimonials like "with our B2B integration server, Swiss Re had a manual update process that took 40 people 30 days to complete and trimmed it to 2 people completing the process in one week." you should be able to continue to sell.

Then after another successful installation and especially when the CIO is now sincerely interested in what uniquely provides the exceptional performance of the EXLN B2B INTEGRATION SERVER, he would most likely be ready to listen to OBJECTSTORE versus RELATIONAL (ORACLE)databases.

No reason why the above scenario can't work with Partners and/or a direct salesforce.

Conclusion: OBJECTSTORE NEVER WAS AND NEVER WILL BE DEAD.
